SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT

SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT

The next month after the Festival of Golf is going to be an extremely busy one for the Greens staff. We will be grassing 1/9 fairways, rebuilding the 9th green and renovating greens.

Work will commence on the 9th green on the Monday after the Festival (30th October) with excavators coming in to strip all turf and remove sand from the old green, once this is completed our shaper will start preparing the sub-base and surrounds ready for grassing.

During the first week we will be playing a temporary green on top of the hill until our new green has been completed, once this has been done we will build a more permanent temporary green into the surrounds of the new 9th green.

The following week we will start the couch conversion program again taking 1/9 out of play for 5 weeks whilst the grass is getting established; when this is completed we will have our new temporary green for the 9th in play.

When we have 1/9 out of play we will take the opportunity to renovate these greens whilst they are out of play and the remaining greens will be done early December.

There will be some disruption to golf for a few weeks but it will be well worth it with the entire course having full couch fairways, which will improve the playability and the aesthetics of our facility.
