
Steve Brindle Fundraiser
The Coffs Harbour Golf Club is running a fundraiser to support Steve Brindle and his family. Steve was diagnosed with a grade two ependymoma brain tumour and bravely underwent brain surgery at the Royal Northshore Hospital in Sydney on the 12th of November 2018. After the surgery there were complications and Steve had to endure another surgery on the 30th of November 2018 to put a shunt in. For 8 weeks Steve had non stop nausea and vomiting, was on the verge of bladder rupture, had blurred vision and developed pneumonia. Due to these complications Steve has had to undergo numerous other surgeries.
Steve finally got transferred back to Coffs Harbour Health Campus this year and remained a patient in the rehab ward for another 2 months. He was finally discharged and was able to return home with daily visits from palliative care in August. Steve still suffers from vomiting especially at meal times. He is now working hard twice a week in the rehab ward doing physio work to build up his strength and muscles to be able to walk better. He has now trialling glasses that might help with his vision and balance which has been another issue which he has had since November.
Steve has an adoring wife Andrea and two beautiful young children. He runs his own business and provides for his family. Steve has been unable to work since the operation and still has a long road to recovery including ongoing medical help over the next 6-12mths and trips to Sydney to see specialist and neurosurgeon.
As such the Coffs Harbour Golf Club is running a Monster Raffle and Auction to help support the family during Steve’s treatment.
