Passing of Peter Thomson
The Club wishes to advise members that golfing great Peter Thomson passed away yesterday in Melbourne, after a four-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 88.
Peter won the British Open Championship in 1954, 1955, 1956, 1958, and 1965. He was the only man to win the tournament for three consecutive years in the 20th century. Members may also be aware that Peter played here in the North Coast Open in 1961 along with other greats such as Kel Nagle.
