Passing of Peter Cutmore

Passing of Peter Cutmore

It is with great sadness that I wish to inform members of the passing of Club stalwart Peter Cutmore, after valiantly fighting illness for the last three years. Peter was the son of life member Col Cutmore and father to Shane Cutmore, three generations of Club Champions. This is an amazing achievement for the family and something I believe the Club will not see again. Peter was Club Champion in 1972 and 1984 and part of the winning Division One pennant team in 1982, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1994 and Division 2 winner in 1999.

Peter was a part of  the iconic business, Cutty’s Cakes and we think it would be hard to find a member who hadn’t tried one of Cutty’s pies or cakes! Peter would often bring the office girls a carrot cake, when they told him it was their favourite. We are sure many members would have stories like this of Peter’s kind gestures and generosity. When Peter wasn’t busy baking, he served on various committees over his time at the Club and on Friday mornings we would see him come in with Col and Colleen for morning tea, a family tradition.

Peter was renowned for his great sense of humour, one story goes that after he lost half a thumb in a car accident he would amuse many a golfing partner by telling them he used what was left of his thumb to poke the holes in the pies at his work.

Peter’s funeral will be held Friday 29th March at 1.30pm at St Augustine’s Church. A wake will follow at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.
