Men’s Pennant Update from Michael Krilich

Men’s Pennant Update from Michael Krilich

The past 2 weeks gave us mixed results, with some of our teams having matches abandoned last week due to wet conditions, and again they were faced with rain at home yesterday.

Last week Division 1 had a washout away against Safety Beach, and on Sunday lost to Sawtell 4 -1, Cameron Pollard continued on his winning way as the only winner.

The Div. 2A team had a hard-fought 3 matches t0 2 win over South West Rocks at home last week. The 2B who were looking very strong leading against Sawtell until they had the match abandoned due to the course being too wet to continue, the matched has been deemed as halved. This week they lost to Safety Beach 3.5  to 1.5, with Paul Currie the best performer with a 5 & 4 win. 2A had a bye.

The Div. 3 teams have had a bit of everything. Div. 3A lost 3 to 2 at home last week against Sawtell and suffered a loss on the weekend to Bellingen. 3B too have been doing it tough with losses to Nambucca last week away and against Safety on Sunday at home. One shining light in 3B was Gerry Martin who was apparently 3 down at the turn, but came home strong as a 2 & 1 winner, not easy to do! Div. 3C had a washout against Safety last week but had a home-game win over Dorrigo 4-1, with convincing wins to Steve Hayes 5 & 4 and team Captain Mat Quirk 6 & 5. Arlen Horten had his first ever Pennant win in his second game, Match Play is indeed a learning process.

Div. 4 played Safety Beach at home last week going down 4 to 1. On Sunday they played Bello at Bello going down 3 matches to 2, with all pairings being tightly tussled, Rex Neill and Chris Saeck returning wins.

It is clearly evident that all the visitors hold CHGC in high regard with them all being highly complimentary of the course conditions and our welcoming atmosphere.

Kind Regards

Michael Krilich
