Men’s Club Championship postponement

Hello to all Members,

As you are all aware, we have had a record-breaking amount of rain in February, well over 700 mm in the last two weeks. Due to this we are unable to get machinery onto the course to cut fairways and rough and also to repair the significant damage to the bunkers. This would leave the course in a less than optimal condition for holding our premier Men’s club event, the Men’s Club Championships.

With the amount of rain we have received any further rain will immediately cause flooding to the course, our water table is so high that even 5 or 10 mm will have the impact of 50 – 100 mm and immediately cause a change to playing conditions, including the need to limit carts to paths only.

Whilst the forecast for the next week is more favourable, there are still showers forecast for each day and so we will be unable to prepare the course properly for such a major event.

We will reschedule the Championships to a date later in the year, to be confirmed.

We have not taken this decision lightly, but believe it is in the best interests of our course and the playability for our members and hope you appreciate our current situation.

We will continue with bookings as they stand for both Saturdays, however for each Sunday we will remove the booking sheet and will open a Medley event start sheet. Should you wish to play on either Sunday please rebook in the Medley start sheet.

Regards,

John Nichols
