Important updated information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Good Afternoon Members,

It is important in these unchartered waters that we communicate well with our members regularly. I am pleased to advise that as of today, Coffs Harbour Golf Club has had no confirmed cases of COVID-19. We also have no suspected cases at this time.

The government has however today placed further restrictions on Clubs where no more than 100 people can gather indoors. To ensure the Club complies with these restrictions we are implementing the following procedures:

  • Restricting booking of functions in the Clubhouse
  • Removing chairs and tables in the Clubhouse to reduce the capacity to less than 100 places
  • Cancelling all golf presentations
  • Friday night raffles have been suspended

Note: For Jack n Jill this weekend there will be no presentation and no shared platters. Cost for competition will be $16 pp. Members are still encouraged to come into the Club for a drink afterwards

We will be monitoring numbers in the Clubhouse and believe that at any one time we won’t have more than 100 patrons in the Club. However if this occurs we ask that you take direction from staff where needed and cooperate in these difficult circumstances.

Further to ensure that we remain operational and protect our staff, members and their guests as much as we can we have introduced the following preventative measures:

  1. Recommend members suspend two-bob Club and the practice of exchanging 20 cent pieces to limit contact between members
  2. Suspension of the weekly mug
  3. We will be encouraging members to use tap and go facilities rather than exchanging cash
  4. We have increased cleaning operations so as we can more thoroughly and frequently disinfect items that our staff and members come into regular contact with. This is including but not limited to light switches, door handles, toilets, reception counter, tables, chairs etc.
  5. We will be providing disinfectant and wipes outside the Proshop for members and guest to use to wipe down their carts and gear
  6. One person per golf cart is recommended where possible
  7. All staff have been advised of the symptoms of the virus and if they identify any symptoms, they have been advised to call in sick and seek medical advice to ensure that they have not been exposed to the virus; we also request that Members and Guests do not attend the Club or play on the course and remain isolated if they suffer from any of the symptoms.
  8. Kitchen staff are trained and follow HACCP procedures, regular hand washing, wiping down surfaces, washing fruit and vegetables etc.
  9. Should there be any reported cases at the Club we will follow all instructions to contain and prevent any further spread of the virus and follow advice as provided by professionals and state departments of health;

Considerations

There are currently no vaccines available to protect anyone against human coronavirus infection. You may be able to reduce your risk of infection by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands;
  • Cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser;
  • Try to avoid handshakes, touching, kissing, hugging and other intimate contact;
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Please note – the situation is fluid and we will react to updates/changes and communicate with you as changes occur.

Kind Regards,

Paul McAra
