Amelia Mehmet-Grohn Fundraiser Day
On Sunday 3rd July, Coffs Harbour Golf Club, The Golf Centre and Amelia Mehmet-Grohn held a 4-person ambrose fundraising event, raising money to help with Amelia’s next adventure on her golfing journey. In 2 weeks, Amelia will head to America to start Q School. Q or qualifying school establishes which new players will gain their playing privileges on the USLPGA Tour for the following season. To qualify, Amelia has to be successful at each of the 3 golf tournaments she’s scheduled to play in America, starting with the 1st stage in Palm Springs in August. The 2nd stage will be held in Florida in late October and the 3rd and final stage takes place in Alabama in late November, early December. Amelia will also be playing an event in Texas while she is over there. We are sure members agree, this is an amazing accomplishment, well done Amelia.
Amelia started her golfing career as a sub-junior here at the Coffs Harbour Golf Club at the age of 12 and has developed and played her way through the ranks to now be taking on the best in the USA. The Board and members could not be prouder to have someone of Amelia’s golfing skill-set, maturity and sportsmanship representing Coffs Harbour Golf Club on the world stage. This achievement has come about from years of tireless efforts on the course accompanied with hard work and highly skilled coaching on the practice range. As a Club we could not ask for nor have a better ambassador!
Despite the weather looking inclement in the lead up to the event, the day booked out with a waitlist, highlighting the generosity and support of our members and the popularity of our next golfing superstar! The Club donated all entry fees paid on the day to Amelia, kickstarting the fundraising with $3600.
In addition to this and with thanks to the many local, generous businesses involved, Amelia raised another $7,500 in raffles bringing her fundraising total to $11,100! We thank the support of our members, without your generosity this day wouldn’t have been the success that it was, you should be very proud of the money you helped to raise. We know it will help in adding many more successful chapters to Amelia’s golfing journey, one we are all embracing and very happy to be a part of.
Congratulations to our winners of the day!
