Hi Members, please see an update from Amelia on her USA adventure – “I started my journey down in Beaumont, Texas. I played in a WAPT (Women’s All Pro Tour) event which goes for 3 days, I was feeling pretty good heading into this event, but being realistic with having not played since May in the LET events. Definitely some rust knocking off from that week with a missed cut but I changed my plans and headed up to Iowa to train at my University’s facilities and it was an added bonus to spend time with my Iowa family. I spent 3 weeks up there practicing and playing all day and everyday. I caught up with my statistics creator that helped me prep in practice for LPGA Q School. My week spent in Palm Springs will definitely be one to remember for the rest of my life, I met so many new faces and had the opportunity to play at a Major Championship golf course… walking across poppy’s pond where they jump in after winning the ANA Inspiration was one to remember and to know that I deserve to be here. The first 2 days were solid and I was right in it with 2 rounds to play, however, day 3 did not go to plan with heat playing a factor, affecting my thought process. I then didn’t make the final day cut. This was a hard pill to swallow as I had been doing such a fantastic job all week of hydration and eating to keep my energy levels up. To give an idea it was 42 degrees in the desert! At this stage I am pretty devastated because it’s my dream to be on the LPGA but I’m not going to let this stop me from getting there, I know it’s a long road and the challenges are going to be hard… I’m ready for the challenge! I’d like to thank all members who have been so supportive throughout this process and looking forward to getting back to work and putting in the hard yards! Much love to all!” – Amelia Mehmet-Grohn
