Congratulations Dee!

Coffs Harbour Golf Club would like to take this opportunity to congratulate golfing member, Dee Anderson on recently receiving an Order of Australia Award (AM) in the 2022 Queen’s Honour List.

Dee was awarded the AM for significant service to tertiary education, and to sports administration, on the Queens Birthday weekend.

The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. Individuals are appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group.

Dee will be presented with her award at the Governor Generals Office in September where she will be joined by her family who say she should be very proud of herself.

Dee didn’t know she was being nominated for the award, only receiving an email earlier this year saying she had been nominated. Dee thought the email was spam until a letter arrived a week and a half out from the Queen’s Birthday Weekend, saying she was successful. The nomination for an AM is anonymous and is an extensive process, with the nomination beginning 3 years ago.

Dee has worked in the sports industry for over 25 years, specialising as an elite athlete expert in the performance and wellbeing of athletes. Last year Dee served as a performance and well-being specialist for the Australian Women’s softball team at the Tokyo Olympics,

Retiring (semi retiring!) as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar) at Macquarie University, Dee made her way to Coffs Harbour and is now Head Teacher at Community Services Campus in Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Macksville – where she aims to lift the capabilities of young people to get involved in further education, often working at the Grafton Correction Centre.

Dee has since received many letters from politicians and officials, thanking her for her contribution to the industry. Ever humble, Dee says the award is “never just about you” and is recognition of “those people around you, like family”. Dee says the real honour is working with some really great people in her career.

We are sure you will agree this is an extraordinary achievement and Dee is one remarkable woman who should be very proud of her career, her accomplishments and her AM award. Well done Dee!
