As members will be aware the Club has been successful in attracting funding for a $50,000 professional men’s event with exemption status for Men’s NSW Open. The event will run on Thursday 17th September and Friday 18th September 2020. With this funding we are expecting an exciting field of players. Our event will be one of 6 qualifying events across NSW.
With the attraction of this event the Club has decided to take this opportunity to move the North Coast Open away from the Festival of Golf week to become this event.
The time -honoured North Coast Open dates back to the early 1950’s. The North Coast Open boasts an honour roll which includes some of the greats of Australian golf including Kel Nagle, Frank Phillips and Billy Dunk. South African Gary Player has also tasted victory in the North Coast Open here at the Club.
In recent years the event has struggled to attract players of this calibre and hold the same prestige on the golfing calendar. It is hoped that with the move of the Open back to a professional event we will see the NORCO back in the lime light and in time we may see the next Jason Day or Adam Scott playing our course.
