Wow, what a week we have had with our 69th Annual Great Northern Festival of Golf taking place. With just shy of 2000 rounds of golf played, we were certainly kept busy.
We want to take the time to thank every single person who visited us over our week of golf. Golfers travelled from all over Australia to play our course with our loyal locals and members, making up full fields most days. Thank you all, you certainly make the week so much fun and the vibe around the Clubhouse was buzzing.
We saw one of the best finishes of the All Office & Business North Coast Open (Norco) with the play off going up the 18th, four times over! Former Club Champion and 2017 Norco winner, Jason Barby took home the 2019 title with an impressive win of 141. Jason holed an 8m birdie putt from the back of the 18th green on the fourth sudden-death hole to edge out Dillon Hart from Emerald Lakes who won the 2018 event.
In the Coffs City Golf Centre Ladies Classic, Adele Douglas from Bonville Golf Resort wrapped up victory for the second consecutive year with 156, winning by a dozen strokes from Coffs Harbour’s Trish Nance, 168. Club Champion, Beck Goldsmith finished third with a further stroke behind on 169
The C.ex Group Cup was won by Scott McAllister with a score of 141, followed by Mark Dodd on 143 and the Handybin Waste Services Coffs Plate was won by Di Heath, 63 and Justin Ward, 73. Well done all.
Thank you to our major sponsor of the event, Carlton & United Breweries and the sponsors of the final weekend; C.ex Group, Coffs City Golf Centre, Handybin Waste and All Office & Business. Our day sponsors also need a round of applause; Williams Timber, Fishburn Watson O’Brien Solicitors, Toro, Mowers and More Coffs Harbour, Jacqui’s Shoe Boutique and ANZ Australia. Thank you to Ryan’s Earthmoving who donated 10,000 tees, Parrys Jewellers for their hole in one prize and Watsons Leisure Centre for their great vans on display.
Thank you @GreenShootsMarketing for capturing our golfers on course and the great articles!
An event this size would not happen without our volunteers – a huge thank you to everyone who helped us out! Our volunteers go above and beyond and while there are too many to personally name, we thank you all so much.
The course was in its best condition thanks to the very hard work of Course Superintendent, Justin Sheehan and his team. Our Head Professional Matt Allan and his team in the Pro Shop were kept busy looking after our visiting golfers; it’s no easy feat – well done team!
Our team at Coffs Harbour Golf Club worked exceptionally hard to make our week of golf one of the best yet; from pouring beers to feeding hungry golfers – well done to our staff!
