9th Green Update
Let’s blow up the 9th Green, is a common feeling amongst the members at the moment, but rest assured the Greens Committee are working very hard on working out a fix for the green, not only its design but the playing surface of course. At the moment we have over sown the green with grass seed, to try and generate an even surface for this years Festival of Golf. We had the green surveyed and Rob De Groot has spent considerable time to create as-built drawings so we can analyse what is the best way to remediate and enhance the design to achieve a desired outcome.
We have also sent all of the data to the greens architect Richard Chamberlain to comment and help with design changes. In addition we have had a very experienced green shaper down from the Gold Coast to have a look at the green and give us his ideas as well.
So, we are hoping that by this time next month we will have a final plan of remediation, with work planned to commence on the 30th October. Justin has constructed a temporary green already so it can be mown and prepared to be an acceptable temporary green, which will be in play immediately after the Festival, while we wait for the new green. We are doing everything we can to get the 9th back to a standard of the rest of our wonderful course, and appreciate your patience.
