Practice Fairway a No Play Zone & Return of NTPs

Practice Fairway a No Play Zone
It has been reported that players from both the 10th and 20th holes are entering the Practice Range to play shots without looking for people using the range. There have been regular reports of near misses that have taken place. Whilst there are players on the Practice area from the course the hitting of practice balls needs to be halted. Sometimes the players take 5 minutes or so while they wait for the green to clear. This can have an impact not only on the practice area patrons, but also on the professionals’ lessons as they need to stop teaching while the players are playing back to the holes in question to avoid them being hit. This causes delays and extends the time of the lesson, which impacts on their work schedule.

Match Committee discussed this issue and will adopt this area as a No Play Zone from 6th February 2021. The area covered by this is the entire raised area of the Driving Range, defined by white posts marked at each edge of the area. The player will receive a free drop and must drop at the point nearest where the ball lay, no nearer the hole, which is outside the defined area (outside the white markings). This relief includes the player’s stance. It is prohibited to play from this area, you must take the drop. The Penalty for breach of this local rule is 2 shots.

Return of NTP’s
They’re back! From Saturday 6th February we will be reintroducing Nearest the Pins on all par 3’s, except the 19th. The Pro Shop will also be running Pro Pins once again, so practice your precision approach play. The Pro Pins will apply to Tuesday 9 hole Ladies, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday competitions.

For the Medley events on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday there will be Men’s and Ladies’ NTPs.

The Super Six will no longer run once the NTPs are back.

Should there be a deterioration in COVID conditions we reserve the right to discontinue this at any point in time should the Government rules dictate this.
