Biography of Named Events<\/h2>\n

Bill Cunningham\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bill Cunningham was a stalwart of the Club and a great contributor over many years. He was a member from the 50s and was President from 1955 to 1958 and again from 1986 to 1987. He was granted Life Membership for his contribution to the Club. During his tenure the Club experienced several difficult years and he personally ensured the survival of the Club during this period. Cunningham\u2019s Home Appliance, Hardware and Farm Machinery business was an institution in Coffs Harbour and was located where Coffs Central is now situated.<\/p>\n

B.L (Brian) Miller<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brian was one of our earliest members at the current site and was President from 1959 to 1961. He was a stalwart of the Club and oversaw many significant improvements to the course, including the commencement of conversion to Bent greens. The Sub Junior program was also commenced during his Presidency. He was granted Life Membership of the Club, the first since GDT Seccombe, who was involved in the moving of the Club to the present site. Brian was a major driving force behind the North Coast Open and was Chairman of\u00a0 the Tournament Committee for many years.<\/p>\n

Pat Ryan<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Joined the club in the late 60s and first donated the trophy in 1970. The winner of the trophy had to be in attendance at the presentations to receive the award. Pat has been a great supporter of the club over many years and also has helped with the Junior Program.<\/p>\n

Brahman Bull \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Phil Doyle & Russell Greenwood<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Phil Doyle was a prominent local beef producer who bred his own Brahman cattle, hence the name of the trophy. He instigated the event and sponsored it for many years. To ensure the tradition of the history continues Russell Greenwood of Russell\u2019s Prime Quality Meats has taken over the sponsorship to retain the link to the meat industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
