From the Superintendent
Following the November
board meeting approval has been given to improve the drainage and install cart
path out 10/18. This follows the success
of installing concrete paths on our west lakes course over the past 3 years
that has been instrumental in maintaining our cart user ability to play golf. We
all know that helps drive income during extended periods of wet weather.
Works will initially start
with the drainage in mid January, this will involve firstly linking the 10th
and 17th dams in front of the 17th tee to allow for more
water storage as well as helping with water movements through that area during
heavy rain. Following this the current drain on 16th will be
deepened and the current pipe removed to allow for larger flows of water to
pass through more efficiently and reduce the backup of water on the 13th
and 14th fairways. These works will allow golfers and greens staff
back on the course much quicker and have less dramas with allowing carts out
10/18.
After these works have
been completed we will start the concrete path program again with more than
$40,000 being spent on weather proofing 10/18. Paths that will be done are 13th
tee, 13th fairway, 14th fairway (including in taking the path
around the right hand side of the 14th green), 15th tee,17th
fairway as well as finishing the path around the 4th green and the
connection of the path on the 26th. Works should commence in
February and be on going through until May or June depending on weather.
Once these works are
completed we will have a full 27hole golf course weather proofed from the
extreme weather we can expect from the sunny North Coast.
I believe that this
decision made by the current board to spend these monies goes to show you why
we are the most progressive golf course on the North Coast and a club that
every member should be proud of. It will be a game changer for all future
golfers in the Coffs Harbour area and will help attract more members to our
wonderful facility.
